Nature, biodiversity, and workshops at the G. Longhi Botanical Garden
In the heart of Romano di Lombardia (Province of Bergamo, Lombardy), the G. Longhi Botanical Garden is a small green gem that in May becomes the stage for the Spring Festival. A day entirely dedicated to nature, biodiversity, and environmental education, designed to introduce people of all ages to the world of plants and ecosystems.
The program is full of activities. The morning begins with guided tours of the botanical garden, artistic and educational workshops, and games for children. Among the most engaging activities is the bioblitz, a participatory biodiversity census that turns visitors into little naturalists. There are also nature drawing contests, creative upcycling workshops, and traditional games.
The festival is also an opportunity for community gathering. Stands from associations and the local producers' market liven up the garden, while free mountain bike rental encourages sustainable exploration of the area. A swap party for exchanging items and clothes, and an outdoor picnic complete a day focused on conviviality and respect for the environment.
Organized by the Gasparina di Sopra Social Cooperative together with the Serio Park and the Municipality of Romano di Lombardia, the Spring Festival is part of a network of initiatives dedicated to enhancing the territory and biodiversity. With free admission, it's the perfect event for a spring day out with the family, immersed in nature.
The 2026 edition of the Spring Festival takes place on Sunday, May 17, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, at the G. Longhi Botanical Garden in Romano di Lombardia. A day dedicated to nature and biodiversity, with guided tours, workshops, bioblitz, and activities for all ages.
