The neighborhood festival of Matelica's summer, featuring Marche cuisine, dancing, and community tradition
The Regina Pacis Neighborhood Festival is one of the most cherished events of the summer in Matelica, located in the heart of the inland area of the Province of Macerata, in the Marche region. Organized by the association Quartiere Regina Pacis APS, the event has animated the neighborhood that gives the festival its name for decades, and in 2026, it reaches its 39th edition: a milestone that places it among the longest-running and most deeply rooted neighborhood festivals in the city.
This is not a large festival with national headliners, but something more precious and authentic: a community celebration, built each year by the voluntary work of the neighborhood's residents, where people gather around tables, dance in the square, and renew a bond of neighborliness that endures over time.
The festival takes place at the Piazzale Caduti di El Alamein, the space next to the municipal stadium (via Guido Rossa area), easily accessible and with ample parking. In 2026, the evenings are scheduled from Wednesday, August 5th to Sunday, August 9th, in the peak of Matelica's summer, when the Pro Matelica calendar fills with food festivals, concerts, and popular events.
The festival's formula is well-tested and revolves around a few ingredients that always work:
The Regina Pacis Neighborhood Festival is part of Matelica's rich tradition of neighborhood festivals, which during the summer see the city's various neighborhoods—including San Rocco and Manozzini—come alive in turn with their own celebrations. For visitors to the inland Marche region in August, participating in one of these festivals is the most genuine way to connect with the daily life of a Marche community, far from tourist circuits and immersed in an atmosphere of popular festivity.
The 2026 edition of the Regina Pacis Neighborhood Festival celebrates the event's 39th year, confirmed in the official summer calendar of Matelica by the Pro Matelica association. The five evenings will take place at the Piazzale Caduti di El Alamein, near the municipal stadium.
For 2026, the festival once again offers its traditional format: food stands with Marche specialties, a large dance floor with evening orchestras, and areas dedicated to children with inflatables and games. The festival is managed entirely by neighborhood volunteers.
The detailed program for each evening (orchestras, menus, and activities) will be announced by the organization in the weeks preceding the event, generally through the Regina Pacis Neighborhood's Facebook page and the Pro Matelica calendar.
Based on previous editions, each of the five evenings will include:
Five consecutive evenings of neighborhood celebration in the heart of Matelica's summer, featuring the traditional outdoor dance floor, local cuisine, and Verdicchio di Matelica.
Matelica is located in the inland area of the Province of Macerata. By car, it is connected by the SS256 Muccese and the SP361. The festival is held at Piazzale Caduti di El Alamein, near the municipal stadium (via Guido Rossa area), with ample parking nearby.
Evenings generally start from 7:00 PM, with food stands opening around 7:30 PM and the dance floor from approximately 9:30 PM.
Entry to the festival area is free. Food at the stands is paid per consumption; reservations for evening meals are recommended through the organization. For information, you can contact the Matelica Tourist Information Office (tel. 0737 685684) or consult the neighborhood's Facebook page.
