The carnival parade of the hamlet, with colours, music, and joy
Among the various carnival parades that liven up Montichiari, in the Province of Brescia, the Re Ambrognaga Carnival is the one that ideally closes the Montichiari Carnival season. The mask of Re Ambrognaga gives its name to a popular festival that brings colours, music, and lots of joy to the streets on a Sunday in early spring.
The gathering and start take place from the Ex Marzotto car park, from where the procession of masked groups sets off to cross the town's streets. It is a parade with a village feel, where local associations and groups, who prepare costumes and choreography in the preceding months, are the protagonists.
Like all carnival events in Montichiari, Re Ambrognaga is also designed primarily for families: an afternoon of outdoor celebration, with music and masks, that brings the Montichiari community together. In case of bad weather, the event is postponed to the reserve date, confirming how much the tradition is felt by organisers and participants.
The 2026 edition of the Re Ambrognaga Carnival filled the streets of Montichiari with colours, music, and joy on Sunday, March 8th. The gathering of masked groups and the start of the parade took place at 2:30 PM from the Ex Marzotto car park. In case of bad weather, Saturday, March 21st was the reserve date.
