A farming tradition in the heart of Seprio

Every year, usually on the first weekend of September, the Mostra Agricolo Zootecnica Città di Tradate opens the autumn events season in the Municipality of Tradate, in the province of Varese. It is an event with a long tradition, which celebrated its 37th edition in 2024 and is preparing to reach its 38th in 2026: an appointment that tells the rural soul of this area of Alto Milanese, halfway between Varese and Milan.

Animals, machinery, and ancient crafts

The heart of the fair remains the zootechnical exhibition, with farm and backyard animals that recall the agricultural history of the area. Around it, there is an exhibition of agricultural machinery and equipment, including vintage tractors and vehicles that delight enthusiasts, and a market of Lombard and Italian food and wine excellences.

For families and children

The exhibition is also designed for children: rabbit farming lessons, educational workshops, the "battesimo della sella" (saddle baptism) to get acquainted with horses, and afternoon equestrian shows make the day suitable for all ages. There is also a food stall, with the flavors of traditional farming cuisine, and opportunities for discussion such as conferences on the future of agriculture.

A community festival

Organized by the Municipal Administration of Tradate with the patronage of the Lombardy Region and the collaboration of the Breeders Association, local agricultural entrepreneurs, and the Pro Loco (local tourism association), the event takes place in the streets and spaces around the municipal sports field in via Roma. It is a landmark for the territory, capable of keeping alive the memory of a rural world that in Tradate has never stopped being part of the city's identity.
