Salzano's grand parade of allegorical floats attracting 20,000 people
The Carnevale della Monica is the grand masked festival of Salzano, a municipality in the metropolitan city of Venice. The event, organized by Pro Loco Salzano, revolves around the parade of floats and allegorical groups that traverse the town's streets, attracting up to 20,000 visitors each year.
The Carnival gets its name from Monica, a long-standing and tireless collaborator of Pro Loco, remembered for the dedication with which she helped the festival grow into a major event for the entire Venetian area.
The day is marked by registrations for the children's costume contest, the parade of floats and allegorical groups, the Monica award for the best walking group, and the drawing of the Carnival lottery. A program designed especially for families and children.
The 2026 edition of the Carnevale della Monica takes place on Sunday, February 15, in Salzano. Pro Loco Salzano presents the usual parade of floats and allegorical groups through the town streets, with contests awarding the most beautiful costumes.
The day begins with registrations for the children's costume contest and continues with the parade, the award ceremony for the winning walking group of the Monica award, and the drawing of the Carnival lottery.
The parade will be canceled in case of bad weather.
Salzano is accessible by car via the SR245 Castellana; the nearest train stations are Salzano-Robegano (Venice-Castelfranco line) and Mestre. The parade winds through the town center streets.
On Carnival Sunday, with registrations starting at 2:00 PM and the parade at 2:30 PM.
