Thousands of young rugby players invade the city of the oval
The Mini Rugby Tournament of the City of Treviso is one of the most anticipated events in Italian and European youth rugby. Organized by Benetton Rugby, the historic club of the capital of Marca, the tournament transforms the city into an immense oval village for a weekend, enlivened by thousands of children, families, coaches, and referees.
The matches take place in the two major rugby facilities in Treviso: the La Ghirada Sports Centre, Benetton's 'City of Sport', which hosts the games for the younger categories, and the Monigo Rugby Stadium, home of the first team, which hosts the finals. The categories involved are Under 6, Under 8, Under 10, and Under 12.
The tournament has established itself as one of the most important youth rugby events in Europe, with hundreds of registered teams and thousands of young players, as well as an army of referees, officials, and chaperones. More than a competition, it is an occasion for meeting and growth, where the spirit of rugby — made of respect, inclusion, and friendship — becomes the protagonist in the symbolic city of this sport in Italy.
The forty-sixth edition of the Mini Rugby Tournament of the City of Treviso is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, 2026. The matches for the Under 6, 8, and 10 categories will be played at the La Ghirada Sports Centre, while the finals for all categories will take place at the Monigo Rugby Stadium, in Treviso.
The announced numbers confirm the extraordinary scale of the event: approximately 280 teams registered, divided among Under 6, 8, 10, and 12, for a total of about 3,560 young players. Over the two days, more than 1,500 matches are planned, coordinated by about 150 referees, with the support of hundreds of officials and coaches.
Approximately 280 teams and 3,560 young players (Under 6-8-10-12), over 1,500 matches, and 150 referees. Team registrations close in the weeks preceding the tournament, through the official Benetton Rugby channels.
The La Ghirada Sports Centre and the Monigo Stadium are located on the outskirts of Treviso, reachable by car from the A27 motorway and by urban transport. Treviso Centrale station is connected to the city center.
The tournament is reserved for affiliated clubs; team registrations are made online through the Benetton Rugby channels. Public access to the fields is generally free.
