The May 1st at the Saline of Penna San Giovanni is the event that, every May 1st, marks the official opening of the tourist season at the Saline Park, in the municipality of Penna San Giovanni, in the province of Macerata. Nestled in the hilly hinterland of the Marche region, the park is an area of great naturalistic and landscape value, made unique by the presence of the salt river, the Salino, from which the locality takes its name.

A Day of Nature and Sports

The event unfolds from morning to evening with a program designed for families, sports enthusiasts, and nature lovers. Among the outdoor activities, you'll find:

• 4x4 off-road excursions with local groups, such as the association Il Branco;
• Bike tours and mountain biking through the park's trails, with a dedicated bike park for children;
• Guided trekking and walks, including forest walks for identifying wild herbs;
• Quad bike rental and traditional games for all ages.

Music, Entertainment, and Good Food

The day is accompanied by music and DJ sets, shows, and entertainment for visitors. Ample space is dedicated to gastronomy: the stars are the savory and fried pizzas prepared by the Pro Loco of Penna San Giovanni and street food by Giardino Sentimento, with picnic areas, aperitifs, and local specialties. The fried pizzas also serve as a preview of the dedicated festival held at the park in August.

The heart of the event is the Saline Park, a green oasis that enhances a little-known corner of the Marche Region. The event, organized by Saline Terme S.p.A. with the patronage of the Municipality of Penna San Giovanni and the collaboration of local associations, aims to be an invitation to rediscover the nature and traditions of the Macerata hinterland on an accessible and free festive day.
