International independent film festival by the lake
Lago Film Fest is the international independent film festival of Revine Lago, in the province of Treviso, in the heart of the Veneto region. Founded in 2005, every summer it transforms the village of Santa Maria di Revine Lago into one of Italy's largest multi-screen open-air cinemas: for nine days, screenings multiply among alleys, courtyards, stone houses, and the lake shore, always under the stars.
The festival is built around its competitions: LAGO26, the extensive international selection of short films, documentaries, and animation; the Triveneto Competition, dedicated to talents from Veneto, Trentino, and Friuli; and the Princípî Award, reserved for directors under 25. These are joined by competitions for young audiences (UNICEF) and special sections on experimental cinema, archival films, and views on the animal world.
Alongside cinema, the Festival Espanso (Expanded Festival) brings concerts, performances, and installations, while the Barefoot Industry Days serve as a meeting point for professionals, fostering an informal and welcoming atmosphere. There are also workshops, masterclasses, and the "Girini" Cine Summer Camp, dedicated to primary school children.
The strength of Lago Film Fest also lies in its setting: the Prosecco hills, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the reflective surface of the Revine lakes provide a natural backdrop for every screening. A single ticket grants access to all screens, embodying a spirit of accessibility and sharing that has made this festival a small, tenacious European capital of independent cinema.
The 2026 edition of Lago Film Fest takes place in Revine Lago from July 17 to 25, 2026. The heart of the festival is the LAGO26 competition, an extensive international selection of short films, documentaries, and animation, alongside the Triveneto Competition (talents from Veneto, Trentino, and Friuli) and the Princípî Award for directors under 25.
In addition to screenings, the event offers the UNICEF competitions for audiences aged 5 to 17, special sections dedicated to experimental cinema and archival films, the Festival Espanso with concerts, performances, and installations, and the Barefoot Industry Days for industry professionals.
