The historic Carnival of Carpenedolo

In the heart of the Brescian plain, the Municipality of Carpenedolo (Province of Brescia) celebrates one of the most rooted Carnivals in the area. The Gran Carnevale Carpenedolese, now in its 66th edition, is a tradition that has its roots in decades of popular history and still attracts a large audience along the town's streets.

The return to the historic center

The 2026 edition marks an awaited return: after six years of absence from the center and three seasons held in the industrial area, the parade returns to the historic center. The last celebration in the heart of the town dates back to February 15, 2020, shortly before the lockdown. Mayor Luca Franzoni emphasized that the choice aims to revitalize the central area and enhance the desire to be together.

Floats, groups, and masks

The parade features 10 floats, 6 groups, and several famous traditional Italian masks, including the prominent El sior Malfatt, the local mask of Carpenedolo relaunched by the Pro Loco and linked to the famous malfatto, a typical local dish. The floats, the result of the patient work of the districts and groups, parade amidst confetti and music.

Greased pole and awards

Among the most anticipated moments are the greased pole climb in Piazza della Chiesa and the awards ceremony for the floats and participating groups in Piazza Martiri della Libertà, where the jury evaluates the creations during the parade. The day concludes with the prize draw, in a festive atmosphere that involves the entire Carpenedolo community.
