About Fuoco al Centro
Culture at the heart of Alto Molise
Fuoco al Centro is the festival of literature, music, and visions in Agnone, in the province of Isernia. Conceived and directed by writer Chiara Gamberale and produced by the writing school CreaVità together with the Municipality, the festival chooses a village in Alto Molise as a stage for literary dialogues, concerts, and workshops, demonstrating that quality culture can ignite even far from major centers.
Encounters, music, and visions
The program alternates book presentations with leading authors — many finalists or winners of the Strega Prize — with musical moments and creative workshops for children. The main events are held in the spaces of the San Marco church and at the Teatro Italo Argentino, while the workshops for children animate the cloister of the Palazzo dei Filippini.
A young but already rooted festival
Born recently, Fuoco al Centro has become in a few editions an anticipated event on the Molise cultural calendar, capable of attracting writers, journalists, and actors known to the general national public to Agnone.
Fuoco al Centro — edition 2026
The second edition of Fuoco al Centro animated Agnone from May 1st to 3rd, 2026, confirming the formula that intertwines literature, music, and workshops. Among the guests were finalists and winners of the Strega Prize, a journalist and television presenter, and a nationally renowned actress. The heart of the events were the outdoor and indoor spaces of the San Marco church, with an opening on May 1st at 6:00 PM and closing on May 3rd at 11:00 AM.

- Journalist Enrico De Simone discusses with Matteo Nucci ("Platone. Una storia d'amore", Feltrinelli, in the running for the Strega Prize 2026), Emanuele Trevi (Strega Prize winner 2021, "Mia nonna e il conte", Solferino), and Gioconda Marinelli on Michele Prisco
Saturday, May 2nd
- Professor Letizia Bindi (Unimol) meets Lorenza Gentile ("La volta giusta", Feltrinelli) and Serena Bortone ("Le dirimpettaie", Rizzoli)
- 9:00 PM — Teatro Italo Argentino: concert by Pierdavide Carone, a tribute to Lucio Dalla

How to get there
Agnone can be reached by car from the SS650 Trignina or via Isernia (about 45 km). The events are concentrated in the historic center, between the Belvedere and the San Marco church and the Teatro Italo Argentino.
