The patron saints of Pagazzano

The Festa Patronale dei Santi Nazario e Celso celebrates the protectors of Pagazzano, in the province of Bergamo. Saints Nazario and Celso were Milanese martyrs who testified their faith in the early centuries of the Christian era, and the parish church, documented since the 12th century, located in the historic center of the village, is dedicated to them.

An ancient tradition

The parish of Pagazzano has its roots in a document from 1168, with an act by Pope Alexander III: a centuries-old history that testifies to the deep bond between the village and its patron saints. The festival, celebrated on July 28th, the liturgical day of the two martyrs, is the culmination of this long religious tradition.

Faith and community

The heart of the festival is the solemn Mass in honor of Saints Nazario and Celso, followed by a procession through the village streets. It is the moment when the community of Pagazzano gathers around its patron saints, renewing a devotion passed down from generation to generation.
